5 Shocking returns that the WWE could pull off at the draft

Hope is a good thing

Creating buzz is one thing that WWE would want ahead of their upcoming brand split. The regular fans are already attracted to the whole scenario, but WWE will have to target those fans as well who has been away from the product for a long time. And one way to do this will be to bring back some superstars whose returns will be least expected both by the regular fans and the old fans.

We already took a look at five stars that could make a return during WWE’s brand split, and in this list, we are going to take a look at five more stars whose returns are going to break down the internet for sure.

#5 Eric Bischoff

Best candidate for the COO post

WWE has been bringing back former General Managers as a build up towards the brand split. One major face that missed out from the whole angle was Eric Bischoff. Bischoff’s stay in WWE as the general manager of Raw was nothing less than iconic. For someone who almost ran WWE out of business to come to the company and work there was something that no one expected.

Bischoff has been busy with other projects but recently, he had joined hands with WWE for his DVD. So it’s safe to say that they are still in good terms. If Bischoff comes in and takes over one brand, it will certainly drive the WWE fans into craziness.

#4 Joey Styles

Could be the voice of SmackDown

Joey Styles might not sound like a big deal among all the other names in the list; we cannot come up with arguments against the fact that he is iconic. Styles, who was the voice of ECW, is still leading the Digital section of WWE and is doing a great job there. But with the brand split coming up, he is someone that WWE could use on the microphone.

With the brand split coming up, WWE is likely to have two separate broadcast teams for SmackDown and Raw. Michael Cole, JBL, Byron Saxton, Mauro Ranallo and Jerry Lawler are names that could do well, but the addition of Joey is going to make matters more interesting.

#3 Goldberg

He is in the game and now he needs to be at the draft

Goldberg is another name that hasn’t been in WWE for a long time. After his forgettable stay in the company, Goldberg left after his forgettable spell in the company long back but recently, came back on WWE television thanks to his appearance in WWE 2K17. To add fuel to the fire, WWE also planted a Suplex City sign in the video which might point at a future standoff between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.

However, this is expected for the WrestleMania time frame only. None of the fans are expecting Goldberg to appear during the drafts and this is why WWE should try to pull it off.

#2 Steve Austin

GM that SmackDown needs

Steve Austin, just like Eric Bischoff could make a great general manager. However, unlike the Bischoff deal, WWE will have to sweat a bit to have Austin on board for a weekly role. But that does not mean it is impossible. Austin and WWE still have ties and with the Austin podcast airing on WWE network recently, it shows that Austin is open to certain things.

Austin would best fit in as the General Manager role for SmackDown as it is a brand that WWE needs to build as a big deal. Austin as the face is just what WWE would need to attract the casual viewers to the show and ensure a great start.

#1 Shawn Michaels

The return that all of us await

Ever since the fans saw Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania, there has been an optimistic buzz regarding his return. Michaels still looks to be in great shape and he could perform at the highest level for a couple of more years. The only thing that is holding Michaels back right now is his word. He is currently retired due to an aftereffect of his match against Undertaker at WrestleMania but for a fan, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

Michaels returning will not only boost the brand but will also give us some dream matches like Shawn Michaels vs. Seth Rollins, Shawn Michaels vs. AJ Styles, Shawn Michaels vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and many more.
