5 Superstars who could win Andre the Giant Battle Royal

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal is now a yearly occurrence at WrestleMania and pays homage to the giant who entertained so many people from the 60's through to the 90's.

Past winners have included the modern day giant Big Show, Cesaro, Baron Corbin and Mojo Rawley, although none of these superstars have gone on to massive things in the WWE.

We still do not know who will be in the match this year, but there are some likely contenders across the roster.

#5 The return - Neville

King of the Cruiserweights

Neville hasn't performed in WWE since October 2017 but his ongoing contract discussions are looking likely to complete very soon. This means Neville could be back on our screens in the next few weeks and will need a solid push as soon as he re-enters the fray.

Neville is likely to go back to the main roster rather than 205 Live, so a win in the Battle Royal here could do wonders for ensuring he is seen as championship material in the future.

The King of the Cruiser-weights was the MVP of 205 Live before his hiatus with a very effective heel run as Cruiser-weight Champion, leaving multiple opponents laying in his wake.

With so many new opponents queuing up to fight him since his last main roster run, this would be a welcome return for the high-flying superstar.

#4 The underdog - Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano is one of the most talented in-ring performers in the world, and dream matches against Neville, Ricochet, Alexander, Balor and Rollins and now Daniel Bryan are all possible in the future.

However, it is unclear whether he will be sticking around NXT for long after his Takeover feud with Ciampa ends, so giving him the platform to burst onto the main roster scene with a plucky underdog win would leave fans overjoyed and provide a real WrestleMania moment.

The past performances in Royal Rumble's of Sami Zayn and Finn Balor show a smaller superstar can still hang with the big guys, and with Gargano's connection to the audience already secured, a Daniel Bryan type run at the top of the card could very well be what the WWE Universe is looking for.

#3 The powerhouse - Rusev

Rusev day is every day

'Rusev Day' continues to dominate the chants on SmackDown Live and Rusev continues to show why he shouldn't be constantly overlooked in the main event picture. Even Macauley Culkin has asked for a WrestleMania match with the Bulgarian Brute, which shows just how 'over' he is.

Rusev does need a dominant victory soon however to solidify his position, and the Battle Royal is the perfect match to do it in.

Rusev went unbeaten for over a year in 2014 and only lost his first match to future 'Hall of Famer' John Cena at WrestleMania 31, so re-establishing him as a force to be reckoned with should not be too difficult for WWE writers.

#2 The up and comer - Elias

Elias has been on an upwards trend since debuting on Monday Night Raw, entertaining the fans with his 'heelish' guitar playing and his brutal in-ring style. To continue his progression towards winning a championship on the main roster, Elias must ensure he is considered a legitimate threat to those around him.

With a lot of his wins coming by way of a sneaky roll-up or by cheating, a solid win here would add more strength to Elias's journey towards gold on RAW.

The Elias success story has happened entirely organically, with the WWE universe appreciating the effort he is putting into his character, and seeing the potential he has to be a breakout superstar.

#1 The surprise - Aleister Black

The Dutch Destroyer

Aleister Black could very well be the new NXT champion come Sunday April 8th, as he challenges Andrade 'Cien' Almas for the title at TakeOver: New Orleans, and what better way to ensure his name is feared in the locker room than have him enter and win the Battle Royal at WrestleMania.

This has been done before with Baron Corbin whilst he still wrestled on NXT, but having a legitimate fighter show up as new champion and then defeat main roster superstars could be a powerful message to send to the locker room.

Everything about Black is different and this is what the WWE universe is shouting out for in 2018. They are tired of seeing Reigns main event WrestleMania 4 years in a row, and do not want another John Cena run at the championship, so putting someone like Black into the mix is a breath of fresh air.
