5 things that Stephanie McMahon needs to change in WWE

Stephanie McMahon is primed to take over the company once Vince leaves

Stephanie McMahon has risen up the ranks in WWE and is now being positioned to take over the company alongside husband Triple H once Vince decides to ride off into the sunset. Some will see that as a good thing and others bad, but one way or another she’s going to be making an impact in the business for quite some time to come.

There are some things that everyone would like to change when it comes to Stephanie’s on screen character, and we’ve tried to dwindle it down to the five most important. As you can imagine, that’s quite a difficult task, especially if you’ve been watching the product since the return of her heel character in mid-2013.

Not everything about her is negative, especially when you consider some of the things she does to improve the company’s image outside of the squared circle. Unfortunately, it’s hard to distinguish between the good and the bad sometimes, which is probably why so many people point to her as one of the main problems behind WWE’s programming for the last few years.

With that being said, here are five things that Stephanie McMahon needs to change in WWE.

Theme song

Stephanie’s theme song has been the subject of much ridicule from fans

Why does this theme song even exist? It doesn’t fit Stephanie whatsoever, with the tune and lyrics being some kind of rap/pop hybrid. Honestly, she would be better suited to coming down to the ring alongside The Authority’s music every single time – after all, HHH has so many themes that he can afford to give one to his wife.

It’s clear that a lot of effort went into the theme, which is another frustrating part about the McMahons: the emphasis always has to be on them as opposed to the in-ring product. It makes sense because they own the company, but just think about how many generic themes could’ve been improved or altered if so much time hadn’t been spent on Stephanie’s.

Face, heel, which is it?!

Contradictions

A heel on-screen and a sweetheart off screen

Stephanie McMahon is a heel on WWE television, no matter how many of her supporters will try and claim that she’s a babyface. Meanwhile, in the public eye, she’s the sweetheart of the company as she makes connections with brands and nations all around the world in order to try and improve WWE’s overall image.

There needs to be a decision made one way or another, because they promote her work outside of the ring so much that it could confuse quite a few people. Everyone knows what her alignment is on WWE television, but she’s working at such opposite ends of the spectrum that it’s almost a little bit insulting.

Get her off the screen.

Appearances

Stephanie is a prominent figure on Monday Night Raw

On SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon and/or Daniel Bryan tend to appear a maximum of two to three times during a two-hour show. Of course, this is one hour less than Monday Night Raw, but their appearances are always used to either further the superstars on screen or to book matches in a subtle yet clever way.

When Stephanie is on Raw, however, she tends to average about five appearances over the course of the event and it just isn’t right. There are so many other competitors on the red brand that would benefit from the time that is being dedicated towards the boss’ daughter, and it comes across as a little bit too selfish for our liking.

Get out the shovel...

Burying

Slaps galore!

Isn’t it funny how everyone always accuses Triple H of doing the burying, when in reality it’s his wife that has taken over that mantle? Honestly, we’ve lost count of how many superstars have suffered from a good old fashioned slap courtesy of Stephanie McMahon and we fear that the number will only continue to rise.

Sure, she gets her comeuppance once every year or so, but that’s far outweighed by the multitude of slaps that only seem to serve to further her ego. That may seem like an overstatement, but anyone who’s been consistently watching over the course of the last few years will completely understand what we’re taking about.

Speaking of Hunter...

The Authority

Triple H and Stephanie are a constant on Raw

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon should not be seen on screen together because we don’t need to be reminded every second of every day about how awesome they are. We know that they like to picture themselves as the ultimate power couple within the mainstream media, but that doesn’t need to happen on Monday Night Raw every week.

It’s unbelievably cringeworthy to see how highly they think of themselves and they should be presented as two separate characters from now on. Sure the connection is there, but The Authority storyline has been dead and buried for a while now so revitalising it once a year just for HHH’s inevitable Mania match just doesn’t work anymore.
