WWE News: Austin Aries forced to evacuate his condo after fire breaks out

The Greatest Man That Ever Lived

Austin Aries arrived at NXT in March, and right off the bat, started off a feud with Baron Corbin, who he defeated at NXT Takeover: Dallas in his first match. He then was involved in a small feud with Shinsuke Nakamura, whom he faced in an unsuccessful effort at NXT Takeover: The End.

He then turned heel when he attacked No Way Jose, and faced him at NXT Takeover Brooklyn: II, in a successful effort. But all is not well for The Greatest Man That Ever Lived, it would seem as reports are emerging that he was evacuated from his condo this past Wednesday morning after a fire broke out a few stories above his house.Aries posted the following with regards to the incident:

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, there was no damage done to his house apart from a water leak from his ceiling. That would definitely come as good news to The Greatest Man That Ever Lived. This hasn’t affected his NXT schedule in any way, and he appeared in the NXT Tapings that happened on 25th August, just a day after the fire broke out. Aries lost quite some steam when he arrived, clearly because his debut was overshadowed by the debut of Shinsuke Nakamura, who is now the NXT Champion. However, his heel turn would definitely have brought about a sense of refreshment, as it gives the crowd a reason to hate him, which will help him get over organically.

Aries was also left down at NXT, where he is with the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, and fellow TNA alumni Samoa Joe and Bobby Roode. Aries is clearly a vital part of the NXT roster who is virtually guarenteed a spot on an NXT Takeover card, as he is a veteran name that is required to help elevate talent, whether it is in victory or defeat. And it looks like he will be down at NXT for a while longer, since it appears that Samoa Joe will be called up to the main roster in just a matter of time.

With Joe leaving, Bobby Roode and Austin Aries will presumably be the top 2 heels of NXT to help talent such as Andrade “Cien” Almas, No Way Jose, Tye Dillinger, etc. with Nakamura leading the brand until his eventual call-up to the main roster. It is not known when Aries will be called up, but there is no doubt that he will find his place up on the main roster some day. Until then, he will continue to be one of the leaders of the NXT roster.
