WWE News: Alexa Bliss reveals how NXT stars discovered their main roster drafts

Alexa Bliss has been dressing up as Harley Quinn since Backlash

Alexa Bliss got called up to the main roster this draft a couple of months ago. She was assigned to the blue brand with fellow NXT star Carmella. Many felt it was a long overdue call-up as she had been in NXT for 3 years and had excelled in whichever position she was asked to perform.

Alexa recently spoke to the Evening Express from UK to promote No Mercy, where she was originally scheduled to face Becky Lynch for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. In the interview, Alexa mentioned the surprise element for the seven NXT stars who had been drafted to Raw and Smackdown Live:

“I was really shocked as you have no idea who is being drafted. We were all sitting at the Performance Center waiting to see whose picture would go up on the show.”

She then proceeded to state her reaction upon hearing her name announced for the call-up:

“As soon as my picture went up I dropped and began crying. It was such an emotional experience and I was overwhelmed. I had been in NXT for more than three years and it felt like all that hard work had paid off. Now I want to push myself to the limits to see what I can do.”

Her journey with NXT came to an end in a six-woman tag match where she teamed up with Daria and Mandy Rose in an unsuccessful effort against Carmella, Nikki Glencross, and Liv Morgan. She went out the old-school style as most NXT stars do – on their backs, putting someone else over.

With the 3-year journey in NXT concluded, she had her sights set on the man roster, where she has so far wrestled in 3 PPVs. First at Summerslam, then at Backlash. Two nights after Backlash on Smackdown Live, she won a Fatal-Five-Way match to become the Number One contender for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

She was scheduled to face Becky Lynch at No Mercy, but due to Becky being injured, she had instead faced Naomi in an unsuccessful effort. However, on the No Mercy Kickoff Show, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon announced that she would still be getting her contractually obligated Championship match against Becky Lynch.

The match will happen on the November 8th edition of Smackdown Live which happens to take place at Glasgow, Scotland – not too far off from Becky Lynch’s home of Dublin, Ireland.
