Cody Rhodes losing his title at WWE Backlash would be mind-numbing, legend says

The Era of Cody Rhodes has begun, but could it be the beginning of the end for the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion?

Wrestling legend Kevin Nash recently weighed in on The American Nightmare's upcoming title defense at Backlash Premium Live Event in France on May 4.

After losing to LA Knight at WrestleMania XL, AJ Styles finally returned to winning ways as he defeated his arch-rival in a rematch on SmackDown to become the #1 contender.

The two stalwarts will now slug it out for the first time in singles competition.

Speaking on the Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash explained why the second chapter between LA Knight and AJ Styles felt unnecessary:

"When Cody tells me that he's going to wrestle the winner of LA Knight vs. AJ to defend his belt, shouldn't that have been kind of the stipulation going into 'Mania? It just seems like they had that match...I'm just saying there was more emphasis on LA Knight being the Slim Jim pitch guy than there was to the significance of that match, which LA Knight went over clean, which is great, but now with a stipulation being AJ or LA Knight gets the first shot at Cody then it's almost like do you think LA Knight's going to beat AJ twice?" Nash added.

The former nWo member said he would be surprised if Cody Rhodes lost his Undisputed WWE Championship at Backlash 2024:

"Nobody's going to beat Cody right now. You can't anoint Roman, who runs for 1300 days, and have this build-up with Cody and then have him [lose his title], or can you? Does he lose out of the shoot? I don't know...I think that would be mind-numbing [on Cody Rhodes losing his title at WWE Backlash]," he added. (3:39 - 5:48)

Is Cody Rhodes going to lose his Undisputed WWE Championship soon?

During a recent episode of Ryback TV, the former WWE Superstar predicted that Cody Rhodes might not have a lengthy run with the Undisputed Title.

The former Intercontinental Champion thinks fans might see a title change in six to eight months:

"I would like to think he's gonna have a lengthy run. But, you know, coming off of Roman having that really, really lengthy run, I obviously, I don't think that's gonna happen. So, I think we probably gonna see something, you know, maybe we see something in the five-six months range/six-eight months range, maybe," he said.

The Phenomenal One will appear on an upcoming episode of SmackDown to address his impending title match with The American Nightmare. Will the two men come face-to-face? Fans must tune into Friday Night to find out.
