WWE News: Fastlane date and venue revealed

The final stop before Wrestlemania

Fastlane was introduced in 2015, and in the two editions so far, has not gotten much acclaim. While last year’s edition was not bad overall itself, it is likely due to the fact that the endings of the PPVs (both which saw Roman Reigns cement his spot in the main event of the upcoming Wrestlemania) left the fans with a bad taste in their mouths.

Well, the PPV is here to stay, and next year, it is taking place on Sunday, March 5th at The BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While WWE themselves have not announced it, the stadium’s social media team took to twitter to announce the event

This will be the first time ever that a non-Wrestlemania PPV will be taking place in the month of March. Usually, Wrestlemania takes place at the end of March or beginning of Apil. Next year, Wrestlemania 33 takes place on April 3rd.

Incidentally, on a WWE Network advertisement of PPVs, it showed that Elimination Chamber would be making a return as a PPV as well. The returning PPV will take place in February between Royal Rumble and Fastlane. It is not known as to whether it will be a Raw or Smackdown Live PPV, it is possible that it might be the latter.

This is drawing from the fact that after Summerslam this year, which was a dual branded PPV, Smackdown Live got the next PPV, which was Backlash. Even after Survivor Series next month, TLC takes place on December 4th in Dallas, Texas, and it will be a Smackdown Live exclusive PPVs.

Last year, the biggest issue with the road was not only fans’ repeated disdain for Roman Reigns’ Wrestlemania push but also the fact that WWE had been plagued with injuries, with the likes of Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Cesaro, etc. all being out of action.

This time, the brands are split, and the rosters have been loaded up, even having raided NXT. It will be interesting to see how WWE changes things up on the road to Wrestlemania this time around, with the stacked rosters.

Either way, what we do know for sure is that Elimination Chamber and Fastlane will be the final stops before Wrestlemania.
