WWE News: Update on Dana Brooke's push

Dana Brooke was earlier viewed as a mega star in the making

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter had been reporting for months that WWE saw Dana Brooke as a huge potential babyface and even the likes of Sasha Banks and Bayley were minor players in the entire storyline, which seemed to have been leading to a Dana Brooke vs Charlotte match.

Meltzer gave an update regarding the situation, stating that their perception of Dana has changed. He said:

"They've really toned Dana down, now she's just a goof, they really don't see her as a star anymore."

He had stated in the past that they planned to push her as the ‘Roman Reigns of the women’s division’.

Brooke generally receives very little crowd reaction, so the fans weren’t pleased upon hearing the rumours of her potential mega push, especially given that she was supposedly favoured over fan favourites such as Bayley and Sasha Banks.

Dana Brooke was called up the main roster not long after Wrestlemania 32 when Emma was beginning a feud with Becky Lynch. Emma and Dana Brooke had been paired up in the past in NXT, and they reunited on the main roster.

WWE had teased a Dana Brooke-Charlotte breakup back in September in the lead to Clash Of Champions when Dana slapped The Queen, to a roaring reaction from the crowd.

Now that she has supposedly been relegated to lesser priority status, it presents a bigger opportunity for her creatively.

She is likely to have more freedom over her character. Perhaps a pairing with Emma once again would help her, as the two really complemented each other in the ring and outside of it.

Dana was paired with Charlotte at Extreme Rules this year because Emma had gotten injured in the middle of May. Now with Emma making her repackaged return as ‘Emmalina’, it remains to be seen how things turn out for all three of them going forward.
