Former NWA president and iconic wrestling promoter Bob Geigel dies at 90

Bob Geigel, former NWA president and legendary pro wrestling promoter, died this week at the age of 90.

Geigel became a well-known promoter in the Kansas City area after a career of wrestling during the 1950′s and 60′s. He was a former president of the NWA three times. He is listed as a 4-time AWA tag team champion, a 4-time NWA Southwest tag team champion, and a former NWA Northwest Heavyweight Champion.

Geigel has a wife who is 60 years old and three daughters. They are the surviving members of his family.

WWE issued the following statement regarding Geigel’s passing:

“WWE is saddened to learn that Bob Geigel, legendary wrestler and promoter, passed away Thursday at age 90.

Inside the squared circle, Geigel captured multiple championships as part of the National Wrestling Alliance. Beyond in-ring competition, he also acted as NWA’s president for nearly a decade.

WWE extends its condolences to Geigel’s colleagues, family and friends.”
