WWE rumours: Reason for Rock's notable absence in the main event revealed

Roman celebrates after winning WWE Championship at WrestleMania 32

Less than 2 weeks ago the biggest event of the year WrestleMania took place in a jam packed AT&T Stadium. Containing both highs and lows, it was undoubtedly a very enjoyable event for a wrestling fan. The main event of the show featured Roman Reigns and Triple H for the WWE World Championship. Reigns walked out of the Mania to re-erect the Roman Empire.

Dailwrestlingnews.com reports that the match was supposed to have a special guest referee but that obviously didn’t happen. Several backstage officials, even the chairman, Vince McMahon supported the idea at one point. Later, Vince nixed that idea of any major interference, other than Stephanie McMahon, as he wanted Roman to win his match and the title without any outside help to prove himself to the WWE universe.

Although Triple H didn’t agree with Vince at first. He wanted Shawn Michaels to be the guest referee. This is believed to be the reason behind Shawn’s exceptional physical shape at WrestleMania 32. Several fans speculated a possible interference by The Rock possibly appearing along with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. But Rock’s business team didn’t want him to be a part of the WrestleMania main event in any way, as they felt that a possible association with Roman would generate potential of heat from the fans.
