As reported earlier, Rey Mysterio is still under contract as his deal was extended for another year by the WWE because of the time he missed due to injuries.
The talent contract clause states that WWE have the right to extend any superstar’s term if they miss a certain period of time due to injuries.
But according to reports, Rey Mysterio informed Triple H that he was not interested in renewing his deal after his contract expired. Hunter accepted his request and shook hands over moving on their separate ways.
But Vince McMahon then had Mark Carrano from Talent Relations call Rey to inform him that they were renewing his deal for one more year based on that clause.
Currently, Mysterio is sidelined due to a hand injury and hasn’t featured on TV since January. WWE SummerSlam took place in Los Angeles, California and despite Rey residing there, they did not bring him for media appearances although there were talks of doing so.
It seems as if the WWE wanted to avoid questions about his status in the company.
