WWE News: Austin Aries requires surgery, will be out of action for several months

Aries is considered as the 'Wrestling Machine'

PWInsider reports that Austin Aries is scheduled to undergo a surgery, for the injury had occurred while wrestling Shinsuke Nakamura at an NXT Live Event in Fresno, California. The injury has resulted in an orbital fracture which is what made the surgery necessary. It will happen later this week in Birmingham, Alabama.

It is expected that Aries will be out of action until the first quarter of 2017.

The injury occurred a few days ago when he absorbed a stiff kick from the NXT Champion during that live show. The match had to be terminated, and Aries required stitches. When he posted about the incident in his Twitter handle, it turned out to be worse than the fans initially assumed:

Aries has worked for several wrestling promotions, including Ring of Honor, TNA, Dragon Gate USA, throughout his career. A multi-time World Champion, Austin has been nicknamed the “The Greatest Man that ever lived”. He joined WWE in January 2016 and started working for NXT.

While he was introduced to the NXT Universe by the General Manager William Regal on the March 2nd edition of NXT, Baron Corbin attacked him from behind. This segment paved the way for a match between the two at NXT Takeover: Dallas, where Aries emerged the victor.

His feud with No Way Jose marked the beginning of his villainous persona. He defeated Jose at NXT Takeover: Back to Brooklyn, after which he was confronted by the returning Hideo Itami.

Austin Aries participated in the second annual Dusty Rhodes Tag team Classic tournament with a mystery partner. It was revealed to be Roderick Strong, with whom he had won ROH Tag team Championship in the past. They defeated Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic to progress to the second round of the tournament.
