WWE News: Billionaire entrepreneur funded Hulk Hogan's lawsuit against Gawker

Great backing

– Hulk Hogan is arguably the most widely known and the most famous star to come through the ranks of the WWE. Hogan is as controversial as he is famous. Hogan was fired last year for the racist references that he made in a video which was leaked. The biggest controversy of his life came with the Gawker scandal. Gawker, an online media company released an adult tape of Hulk Hogan with out his permission.

Hogan sued Gawker and finally won a huge amount of $140 million in damages which was awarded to him by the judge. It has now come to light that Hogan may have had a huge name backing and funding his case against Gawker.

According to the New York Times, Hogan had the backing of none other than PayPal founder Peter Thiel. The 48-year-old entrepreneurial sensation was the first outside investor in Facebook. Thiel has held a vendetta against Gawker since 2007, when the website revealed that he is gay.

Thiel counts PayPal and Palantir in his repertoire

Nick Denton, who founded Gawker had speculated days earlier that Hogan may have had a third party backing him. The person who revealed this whole third party and that Peter Thiel backed Hogan in his case still remains anonymous. Hogan looks to set his controversial life aside for now and some people are speculating a Hogan return to the WWE.
