As we note before, the former NXT champion and first ever WWE Universal champion Finn Balor dislocated his shoulder during his SummerSlam match against Seth Rollins and a post-match MRI scan of his shoulder showed a “possible labrum tear.”

As first reported by WWE.com, due to this injury now the former WWE Universal champion Finn Balor had to relinquish his championship this past Monday on Raw.

Now as per the latest updates from the official WWE website, the NXT veteran has undergone a successful surgery to repair the damaged shoulder this past Tuesday following his appearance on Raw.

However, according to the doctors his injury was more severe than first thought and it did more damage than a standard shoulder dislocation. Although they also noted that the prognosis was excellent and the doctors see him recovering at full speed.

Below is the official statement of Dr. Jeffrey Dugas as seen on WWE.com;

“Finn’s injury was pretty severe, more severe than normal. A really high energy injury, it did more damage than a standard shoulder dislocation where you simply tear the labrum. The prognosis is excellent, however. We were able to fix it all and put it back where it came from. I’m anticipating him getting back at full speed.”

The former NXT star also posted a photo of his surgery from his twitter handle as seen below:

The estimated recovery time for the Demon King is said to be somewhere from 4 to 6 months that means Balor could be expected to return to WWE TV during the start of the WresleMania season, most probably at Royal Rumble.

As seen on Raw this week WWE has announced a fatal four-way match for next week's episode of the Red show to determine the new WWE Universal champion.

They held four qualifying matches on this week's episode of Raw to determine the four participants in the championship match next week. The four contestant who advanced to the fatal four way by winning their respective matches are Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens and Big Cass.

Early reports suggested Seth Rollins would become the second ever WWE Universal champion but now the latest speculations say that Roman Reigns is the current favorite to walk out as the champion from the Universal title match
