WWE News: Stone Cold Steve Austin shares a horrific photo of his elbow

Stone Cold might need surgery to correct his elbow and restore full movement

Proudly raising his middle fingers in the faces of everyone who dared oppose him, Stone Cold Steve Austin has become one of the most recognizable wrestlers of all time. “The Texas Rattlesnake” had been the face of the company during the Monday Night Wars and carried the company through the Attitude era and beyond. Over the span of his career in the WWE, Stone cold has had his fair share of injuries and setbacks.

In the long list of serious injuries that Stone Cold has suffered over the course of his wrestling career, including a severely broken neck from a piledriver that could have left him paralyzed, but none were quite as shockingly gross and stomach-churning as this golf-ball size lump growing out of his elbow.

The ex-wrestler shocked fans with a photo on Twitter of his elbow with a monstrous lump straining through his skin and a fair warning to all the readers, it pretty gruesome.

Austin explained on his latest podcast that he suffers from olecranon bursitis. It is a condition when the elbow’s bursa becomes irritated or inflamed and fills with extra fluid. When this happens, a painful swelling develops at the back of the elbow. Trauma, such as hitting the elbow or falling on the back of the elbow, can lead to this condition. People who lean their elbows against hard surfaces can develop this problem over time.

He noticed the bump while doing a workout, and said that it's actually a common malady for pro wrestlers.

He said:

"I bent down to pick up a weight and I used my left arm, and my [expletive] left arm didn't wanna bend. And I'm like 'Man, what the [expletive]'s wrong with my arm?' So I grabbed my left arm with my right hand, and it's like someone had buried a golf ball in my elbow. You know, back in the day, when I was in the game of pro wrestling, when I was first starting out - or hell, it could be any time - try and make a flat-back landing and sometimes your elbows just bang into that mat and you bust that bursa sac. Virtually all the boys who ever come up in the business have that tennis ball elbow as you go through the paces, because it kinda comes with the territory."

The fans were quick to react to the post. One of them said that it looked like “that damn thing from the Alien movie” was trying to escape from his arm. Others asked if it was a boy or a girl and if he’d picked out a name for it yet.
