WWE News: Triple H wants current champion to split from manager and cut promos himself in the future

What's the story?

Triple H recently had an interview with Scott Dargis of NBC Sports in the promotion of WWE NXT's national television debut on the USA Network last night.

Within the interview, they talked about the next steps for NXT as a brand after this landmark night, also what Triple H expects out of the current NXT Champion Andrade Cien Almas.

In case you didn't know...

The original iteration of NXT was a competition reality show to determine the next breakout star of the WWE. This format of NXT actually started on broadcast television in 2010 when it aired on the Syfy Network until SmackDown Live was moved over a month into its run.

The heart of the matter

In regards to what's next for NXT after appearing on national television capped with an amazing main event between Aleister Black and Adam Cole, Triple H thinks that further establishing it as a brand and not a developmental territory is next up on the planning.

To accomplish this, Triple H is planning on shifting some people who are on the main roster and moving them to NXT. He would further explain in the quote below:

They've done this or this on the main roster and now they're back down doing this in NXT.' I think there's going to be that shift back and forth. I think you'll see, as you said earlier, a more legitimate alternative brand, although, I think on the lower and middle end of the roster, you're going to have talent who have only been in the business for two years. The first time you'll see them perform anywhere will be on NXT.

They also discussed the current NXT Champion Andrade Cien Almas, what he saw in Almas to make him the champion, and what he expects from him going forward.

Triple H said that the addition of Zelina Vega gave him a renewed confidence to become one of the top heels in the brand. He always had the tools in the ring, but with Vega, he transformed as a performer.

Going forward with Almas, Triple H stated that he would love to see him continue to become that all-around performer. He wants to see Andrade continue to get better at learning English and get to the point where he may not need a manager; though she has been tremendous in her role since debuting.

What's next?

At NXT Takeover: Philadelphia, the NXT Champion Andrade Cien Almas will take on the winner of a Fatal-4-Way match coming up.

Currently, three of the four wrestlers have qualified for the Fatal-4-Way with Johnny Gargano, Killian Dain, and Aleister Black. On an upcoming edition of NXT, Lars Sullivan will take on Roderick Strong for the final spot.

I'm very excited to hear Triple H talk about the possibility of having current superstars on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live being moved to NXT. It's a win-win situation for those who may not be getting traction on the main roster.

Based on what Triple H said, it definitely seems like there will be a time down the road where the term "main roster" isn't just for Raw or SmackDown.
