What's the story?

In a recent NXT conference call, WWE COO Triple H seemingly mentioned that the company are currently open to working alongside several Independent promotions in order to ensure a proper exposure of the wrestling world.

In case you didn't know…

GRESS Wrestling and Evolve Wrestling - who are two of the best UK based Indy promotions - are currently in a working relationship with the WWE.

Evolve initially entered a relationship with the WWE in 2015 when several wrestlers from the Evolve roster featured on WWE’s official website (WWE.com), meanwhile, WWE superstars such as Sami Zayn, Jason Jordan, and Chad Gable also took part in several Evolve events in non-wrestling roles.

In 2016, NXT General Manager William Regal and WWE COO Triple H attended Evolve 54 and as part of the relationship, it was announced in March of 2016 that Evolve would hold qualifying matches for WWE's Cruiserweight Classic.

On the other hand, PROGRESS Wrestling began working with the WWE in 2016, when the promotion hosted two qualifying matches for the WWE Cruiserweight Classic. In 2017, PROGRESS wrestlers such as Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven, and Mark Andrews were all seen taking part in WWE’s inaugural UK Championship tournament, with Bate ending up as the winner of the tournament and becoming the first ever WWE UK Champion in the process.

The heart of the matter

There is certainly no surprise to the fact that during WWE’s WrestleMania weekend, several Independent promotions are seen running various types of wrestling events in the same area as WWE's showcase event and during the recent NXT conference call, "The Game" Triple H was asked about other promotions running events in the area of WrestleMania.

Triple H responded to the question by claiming that he personally doesn't mind it, however, it does bother him when fans decide not to attend a WWE event and instead have a poor experience somewhere else.

Furthermore, "The Game" also stated that he hopes to work alongside these promotions to ensure that wrestling fans around the world are getting the best possible experience and as noted, Triple H was also seen mentioning the likes of PROGRESS Wrestling and Evolve.

What's next?

The likes of PROGRESS Wrestling, Evolve, RevPro UK and several other Indy promotions will be running a show in New Orleans during WrestleMania weekend and as for Triple H himself, his NXT brand will also be hosting TakeOver: New Orleans featuring Andrade "Cien" Almas vs Aleister Black, Ember Moon vs Shayna Baszler, Tommaso Ciampa vs Johnny Gargano and a lot more.

Author's take

WWE has already built a solid relationship with PROGRESS and Evolve and personally, I hope that we get to see them work with several other promotions in order to get the best experience possible, in terms of being a wrestling fan and as aforementioned by Triple H himself.

An unexpected name just challenged Randy Orton RIGHT HERE.
