Triple H was there to help Full Sail say goodbye to Asuka

This week's episode of NXT featured the return of Asuka, a bittersweet return with a huge announcement but more on that later on. The show also faced to grudge matches, first between Andrade 'Cien' Almas and Cezar Bononi and later the much-awaited No DQ match between Hideo Itami and Kassius Ohno.

Andrade came out with Zelina Vega, who headed to commentatry. Almas was set to face Cezar Bononi who beat Andrade a couple of months ago.

The match was short and Bononi’s main offense came in the middle of the match when he burst out with a massive clothesline, before taking Almas down with a remarkable dropkick for a person of his size.

Almas regained the upper hand with a brutal looking back elbow which stunned Bononi. Vega then stood up and shouted at Andrade, asking him to finish Bononi. Almas obliged and hit Bononi with the hammerlock DDT for the win.

We caught up backstage with Christy St. Cloud who was outside Asuka’s locker room. Instead of Asuka, we got Velveteen Dream who said that he would only speak when the ambience was right.

Lars Sullivan had 3 opponents waiting for him inside the ring, all of them enhancement talent. Sullivan asked for all three men at the same time.

They obliged and Sullivan ran roughshod over them. He tossed them around the ring and suplexed them before pinning one of them for the win.

No Way Jose came out and went nose to nose with Sullivan in the middle of the ring. Jose took the first shot but Sullivan then laid him out.

We got a video from SAniTy responding to the brutal attack from Cole, O’ Reilly and Fish last week. The video ended with Wolfe calling for chaos.

Zeda vs Sonya Deville

Zeda was no match for Sonya Deville

Sonya Deville faced Mae Young Classic competitor Zeda next. Zeda has a background in MMA herself and after being taken down a couple of times, she pulled of a couple of nice rehearsals. Deville hit back with a spear that sent Zeda rolling out of the ring.

Deville followed Zeda out and rolled her back in. Zeda tries to get in some offence of her own but she gets taken down after a boot before locking in an armbar/triangle combo. Zeda tapped out.

We get more footage the Performance Center. We see Regal overlooking Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch working in the ring before Ruby Riot came up to Regal. Riot told her that she wanted a handicap match with Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Regal refused but offered her a tag-team match if she could find a partner.

Kassius Ohno vs Hideo Itami (No DQ)

No DQ indeed

This match has been brewing for weeks. Last week we say Kassius Ohno asking GM William Regal to make this match a No DQ match and he obliged.

Kassius Ohno started off on a roll as he took Itami down and hit a leg drop. He followed it up with a massive running suplex. Itami looked more frustrated as Ohno took complete control.

Itami then reversed an Irish Whip and sends Ohno crashing into the steel post. The action spills to ringside as Itami sends Ohno crashing into the steel steps.

Itami then rolled Ohno back into the ring and took out a steel chair. As Itami went to hit Ohno with the chair, Ohno dodged it and went for a spinning elbow only for Itami to smash the chair into him.

We come back from commercial to see Itami still in control of this battle. Itami followed it up with a couple of kicks before Ohno hit back, reversing a GTS into a Fireman’s Carry. One elbow strike later, Itami was out on the ramp outside and Ohno followed him. Itamii hit a suplex onto the ramp.

Itami then placed steel chair on Ohno’s head and connects with a running dropkick but Ohno kicks out of the ensuing pin. Itami then ranted at the crowd before attempting a low blow, only for Ohno to catch his leg. Itami replied with a poke to the eyes before lifting Ohno for the GTS. Ohno maneuvered out of it and hit a low blow of his own, before hitting the Roaring Elbow for the win.

William Regal was in the ring and he called out Asuka to join him. The fans greeted Asuka with a loud ovation as she joined Regal in the ring. Asuka took the mic, speaking about her 2 years in NXT where she faced many top wrestlers.

Regal lauds Asuka as one of the greatest champions that WWE has ever seen before commending her for bringing honour to the title and defending it. Regal then announced that he was in discussions with the GM’s of RAW and SmackDown to take Asuka to the main roster before adding that, unfortunately, Asuka would have to drop the NXT Women’s Championship after being undefeated for 523 days.

The entire roster came out to pay Asuka their respects before Ember Moon came down to the ring. The two faced off briefly to chants of “One more match” before they hugged. Triple H made his way down to the ring at thing point and presented Asuka with a bouquet before embracing her. Asuka got a little emotional as Triple H announced Asuka as the undefeated champion.

As Asuka heads to the main roster, we must ask ourself, is anyone really ready for Asuka?
