WWE RAW: Best match of the night

3

WWE RAW was live from Green Bay, WI and right from the beginning build up to feuds seemed the most important priority. Though I would have liked a little more in-ring action, certain angles did turn out to be impressive.

The night lacked decent wrestling matches, with the main event hardly lasting ten minutes. Maybe WWE could have managed to cut off a few ridiculous segments on the show to give the main event some time. The highlight of the show however was the showdown between Lesnar and Punk. Punk’s match with Axel is sadly the only match worth mention and quite obviously makes it the best match of the night.

Punk had a short one minute interview backstage before the match. Here he vowed to go after Punk and promised to beat Lesnar at SummerSlam. The most intimidating part of the segment was Punk’s confidence on the mic. Anyway, Punk was ready waiting for Axel inside the ring. Curt made his way along with Heyman.

Punk charged towards Heyman on the aisle as Axel interrupted and sent Punk back towards the ring. Once inside the ring, the referee officially started the match. Punk looked on fire right from the beginning as he hammered Axel with constant blows. His suicide dive to the outside on Axel was picture perfect.

Back from commercial, Axel gained control as Heyman made his way back into the ring after having run backstage during Punk’s initial attempt to get hold of him. Punk landed a perfect Crossbody on Axel and then went for Heyman outside the ring. Axel came in and clotheslined Punk. Punk then started his comeback with a clothesline and a huge neck-breaker that the almost dead crowd loved. Punk then hit a high knee and climbed up top, but Axel used the ring to knock Punk from the corner. He then followed it by a neck-breaker for a close two count. Punk then countered again with a Roundhouse kick.

Both Axel and Punk were down, as Heyman was cheering for Axel close to the ring. Punk got hold of Heyman’s throat and the referee immediately called the match off. Lesnar’s music then hit and down walked the Beast.

Punk was getting ready for Lesnar inside the ring as Axel dragged Punk from behind. Punk silenced Axel with a GTS and then went for a chair. Lesnar pulls the chair away from behind and both these wrestlers start brawling. Initially it looked as though Punk made no damage on Lesnar, but the latter gets pushed to the ring post and starts to reel. Punk makes good use of this situation and continued his assault on Lesnar.

But we all know Lesnar hardly gives up and counters with an impressive belly to belly. Punk is sent back to the ring, but he manages to fight back with a few chair shots on Lesnar. He then goes for Heyman but Lesnar recovers and lays down Punk with a thudding F5. Punk then gets three brutal chair shots from Lesnar which puts the lights out for the Best in the World.

Backstage Lesnar insults Punk further and Heyman challenges Punk for a match next week that could prove to be Punk’s best chance at getting some retribution. The question that remains now is whether, Heyman has some motivated plan or is Punk smart enough to expect some mishap next week.

An unexpected name just challenged Randy Orton RIGHT HERE.
