WWE Rumors: Actual plan behind Samoa Joe-Finn Balor NXT title match revealed

Will Balor put Joe over by losing to him one more time?

Little did the small crowd at a nondescript house show in Lowell, Massachusetts that they were about to witness history. A hobbling Finn Balor would try going high risk in a last-ditch attempt to end the stifling offence of the indefatigable Samoa Joe, only to be strung up on the ropes and laid to rest with a Musclebuster.

At the end of the referee’s one, two, three count, which the crowd in one voice kept time with, an overwhelmed Joe would raise his arms to the heavens after ending The Demon’s record 292-day reign as NXT Champion.

It is now reported that the original plan was to have Balor drop the belt to Joe at NXT Takeover: Dallas, but that was bumped up to April 21st, according to cagesideseats.com. WWE released this video of Joe’s monumental win:

Balor’s expected on the main roster any moment, but like the debut of his former stablemates Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, it seems like the WWE Universe will be in the dark till the moment of truth. There were reports of letting Joe defend his title against Balor at an upcoming NXT Takeover event, but there is no further information available surrounding the claims.

With his win, Joe became one of an elite few to have won the top belts in multiple major promotions, with world championships in ROH and TNA in his oeuvre.
