There is a long history of talents being exchanged between the NFL and Pro Wrestling as there have been countless NFL players who have successfully made the transition from the gridiron to the squared circle. It looks like another current NFL star could be heading to the world of professional wrestling to join the biggest wrestling company in the world.
According to reports from Inquisitr, Rob Gronkowski from the New England Patriots could be the latest edition to the list of Former NFL players who have joined WWE.
In his latest interview with Good Morning San Diego, current WWE star Mojo Rawley spoke about the NFL star and revealed that he is interested in joining the Pro wrestling industry.
Rawley, who is an old family friend of Gronkowski and a former Football player himself said that that the Football player is 'dying to get in the ring'. He said:
“The main man, Robbie G! Trust me, we’ve had that conversation many times, me and Gronk, and he is dying to get in the ring.“Wait until you see me and Rob together You can barely handle me, but wait until you get us together. Oh, it’s game over!”
It's notable here that Rob attended a WWE Live Event last year and interestingly, the company was not shy about his presence inside a WWE arena. They shared a photo of the NFL player attending the event from their Instagram account as seen below:
It's worth noting the long list of former NFL players who have joined WWE with Mojo Rawley, Baron Corbin, and Roman Reigns to name a few.
Due to the claims made by Mojo Rawley and the fact that WWE has been on a roll in hiring young talents for their programming since the Brand-Extension Drafts, it's widely believed that the NFL competitor could be heading to WWE performance center. Although for now, the dream of seeing the ex-NFL players in the WWE is pretty much a rumour and nothing more.
