Galatasaray fans are the loudest in the World

Galatasaray may be popular thanks to their surplus money, but there is more to the Turkish giant than just money. The Galatasaray fans have been called the loudest in the world, with the sound level recorded coming up to an astounding 131 decibels. This is louder than standing 50m away from a military jet taking off, and also louder than the famous 126 decibel reading measured at the 1976 concert of The Who.

Manchester United veteran Gary Neville once said that there probably is no place that is as noisy as Galatasaray. This was when the Turkish side’s stadium was Ali Sami Yen stadium, which had a seating capacity of 24,000. The club’s new stadium, the Turk Telekom Arena, was completed in 2011 and has a capacity of nearly 53,000, more than double of that of the old stadium.

Everyone who has attended a live Galatasaray match are left with no doubt about the passion the fans have for the game and how much they support their club. Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Beskitas, the biggest clubs in the country, boast millions of fans who come to cheer their team on. The Galatasaray fans may actually be able to equal, if not surpass, the iconic Wembley roar.
