Cesc Fabregas to remain at Barcelona?

Amidst all the speculation regarding Cesc Fabregas’s future, Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino came out and said that the midfielder is going nowhere. This statement came after Barcelona’s 7-1 win over Thailand, a game that featured Fabregas.

“Fabregas is still our player and he will be with us for this season,” Martino is quoted as telling AS.

Martino said that he was more concerned about the fitness of club captain Carles Puyol.

“Right now I’m more worried about whether Puyol will recover,” he said.

The 26-year-old, who signed for Barcelona from Arsenal in 2011, has not managed to reach the performance levels he did at the London club, and was rumoured to be unsettled at the Catalan club.

Manchester United were in relentless pursuit of the Spaniard and had two bid offers rejected for him.

Irrespective of Martino’s statements, it remains to be seen where Fabregas will be playing come the start of the season.
