Argentina legend Diego Maradona has taken another dig at his nemesis Pele and stated that the ‘Player of the Century’ award bestowed on him is legendary and Pele’s FIFA award is s***, Goal.com reports.

Former Brazil footballer Pele, who is regarded the best footballer of all time, was defeated by Maradona in the Player of the Century award in 2000 and had to settle for a place in FIFA’s ‘Football Family’. Maradona collected a massive 53% votes which helped him get the prestigious prize.

Maradona, 51, thinks that his award eclipses Pele’s.

“In 2000 I won the Player of the Century award thanks to the people. Pele was second,” he told reporters. “He also came second behind [Aryton] Senna as Brazil’s greatest sportsman.

“The award that Fifa gave Pele isn’t worth sh*t.”

Maradona also criticized the aging FIFA top brass including president Sepp Blatter and stated that they are “so old that they cannot even drive a car”.

He added: “The Fifa directors are all over 95 years old! The people there are so old that they cannot even drive a car, so how do they lead the world of football?”
