Ever since his arrival in WWE, it was clear as day that Roman Reigns was going to be a huge star. He was also presented in such a way from the very beginning.
The company's investment in the Tribal Chief paid off as he embarked on one of the most legendary WWE Title reigns of the modern era. Given his dominance in the ring, not many WWE stars have pinned Reigns in the past few years. However, there are a few stars who pinned him before he began his dominating run as the Tribal Chief, and some of those stars are currently signed to AEW.
Hence, we will look at three big AEW stars who have pinned Reigns during their time in WWE.
#3. Jon Moxley pinned Roman Reigns in 2016
Jon Moxley started his WWE main roster run along with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins as part of The Shield. The trio dominated WWE for a couple of years before they imploded after Seth betrayed the group. Following this, all three men went their separate ways, but Mox and Reigns teamed up several times.
However, at Battleground 2016, all three members of The Shield faced off in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship. It looked like Reigns would win after he hit Rollins with a spear. However, Moxley entered the ring and hit The Big Dog with his finishing move and pinned him to win the match.
#2. Bobby Lashley
When Bobby Lashley made his return to WWE, he was pushed as one of the top stars in the company. As a result, he got face off against several major stars. He was also involved in a feud with Reigns in 2018. They faced off against each other in two singles matches.
At Extreme Rules 2018, Reigns and Lashley faced each other in singles competition for the first time. During the bout, it looked like Reigns had the match won and was about to go for the spear. However, The All Mighty saw it coming and hit a spear to pin Roman. These two men faced each other again eight days later and this time, Roman got the win.
#1. Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe started his WWE run in NXT, where he proved to be a menace to his opponents. However, his main roster run is a little bit iffy at best due to him spending a considerable amount of time on the sidelines due to various injuries.
Despite this, he was involved in a few notable feuds and even got some big wins under his belt. However, nothing will beat the victory he got over Roman Reigns in 2017.
On the 6th February 2017 episode of RAW, Samoa Joe faced off against Reigns in a singles match. During the match, Braun Strowman came out to the ring to distract Reigns. This distraction allowed Joe to pick up the pinfall victory.
These few losses did very little to stop the momentum of Roman Reigns, who went on to have a generational run in the years that followed.
