#1 AEW should turn Cody Rhodes heel

He's been teasing it for months and it's time to pull the trigger on a Cody Rhodes heel turn.
He's been teasing it for months and it's time to pull the trigger on a Cody Rhodes heel turn.

After Darby Allin wins the AEW TNT Championship on Saturday, it's time for the company to pull a trigger on something that they have been teasing quite a bit throughout 2020. It's time for the American Nightmare to turn heel.

While Cody Rhodes is a great babyface, he's also an incredible heel. There is something about his personality and cocky demeanor that rubs a portion of the pro wrestling fanbase the wrong way. A heel turn on Saturday could make Rhodes a top heel in the company, along with the likes of MJF and Chris Jericho. If The Demo-God does turn face in 2021, they will need someone to fill his shoes and Rhodes is the perfect candidate.

With Rhodes continuing to build his Nightmare Family over the last several weeks, it will be interesting to see what comes of that group if the American Nightmare goes to the dark side.

Furthermore, with Brodie Lee not being on AEW television since dropping the TNT title back to Cody and the rise of popularity of the Dark Order, it would be very interesting if this leads to a double turn where a heel Nightmare Family is feuding with a face Dark Order.

Regardless of what happens from a creative standpoint on Saturday night, wrestling fans worldwide should get a great night of professional wrestling from AEW Full Gear.
