AEW Dark Results: Adam Cole in action; ex-WWE star wrestles his first match after nearly three months (January 18th, 2022)

The Varsity Blonds (w/Julia Hart) vs. Liam Gray and Adrian Alanis on AEW Dark

Liam Gray applied a side headlock on AEW star Brian Pillman to start things off. The latter quickly escaped from the hold and pushed Gray across the ring. Griff Garrison came in, and The Varsity Blonds delivered a double vertical suplex on Gray.

The duo dropped Adrian Alanis with a Spinebuster-dropkick combo. The latter then delivered multiple elbow shots on Griff Garrison from the apron, as Liam Gray shoved Griff into Pillman and tagged his partner.

Alanis gave a clothesline and considerable chops to Griff's chest, but the Varsity Blonds landed with their respective Sitout Facebuster and Jackhammer maneuvers to pick up the victory.

Result: The Varsity Blonds def. Liam Gray and Adrian Alanis

Grade: C

After the match, Griff and Pillman warned Malakai Black and Brody King ahead of their tag team match on AEW Dynamite this week.

Red Velvet vs. Vipress on AEW Dark

Vipress applied a wrist lock to dominate Red Velvet early in the match. The former landed with a shoulder tackle. Velvet quickly recovered and delivered a leg lariat, executing a single dropkick to her opponent for a two-count.

Vipress berated the AEW star and dropped her with The Michinoku Driver for a two-count. Velvet later caught Vipress with a spinning heel kick, followed by The Final Slice to score a pinfall victory.

Result: Red Velvet def. Vipress

Skye Blue vs. Robyn Renegade on AEW Dark

Skye Blue and Robyn Renegade started the match with an attempt for a wrist lock. Just when the latter put her opponent on the turnbuckle, Charlette Renegade dropped Blue off the turnbuckle while the referee was distracted.

Robyn then planted a Spinebuster for a quick two-count. The former bashed Blue's head repeatedly on the canvas. Robyn then applied fish hooks to Blue, who delivered a high knee strike, followed by a running knee strike. She also landed a superkick on Robyn and then Charlette.

Skye Blue then delivered another superkick and caught her opponent with a Flatliner to win the match.

Anna Jay vs. Tiffany Nieves on AEW Dark

Tiffany Nieves kicked Anna Jay in her gut to start things off. The latter then applied a quick side headlock, followed by multiple shoulder tackles. Jay delivered a kick on the back of Nieves' knee and a heel kick in the face to put her opponent down.

Nieves charged with an elbow strike to Jay in the corner and a sliding lariat. The Dark Order member landed with The Dangerous Jay Kick multiple times on her opponent across the corner. She ended the match with a combination of The Hook Kick and The Queen's Slayer to make Nieves tap out.
