Like Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson has also, over the years, formed a powerful bond with AJ Styles. Anderson even referred to AJ Styles as his best friend outside the ring.
The two came close when Styles replaced Finn Balor at the Bullet Club back in their time at New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Chris Jericho was friends with AJ Styles before 'The Phenomenal One' even debuted in WWE in 2016.
It was, therefore, somewhat ironic when AJ Styles started his first WWE feud against Jericho at Royal Rumble. Eventually, the duo formed a tag team as well.
Styles and Jericho had a great series of matches against one another, which wasn't a surprise. Both were excellent in-ring performers and shared healthy chemistry outside the ring that made their rivalry more epic.
