Earlier tonight on Collision, Powerhouse Hobbs looked to make a statement, as he completely decimated a former WWE talent during his return to AEW. This would be CJ Esparza.

Esparza worked as a developmental talent across the industry. In his only appearance in WWE, he was part of an iconic match. This was Baron Corbin's Global Battle Royale. This was the same match where Kurt Angle dressed up as The Conquistador to win the entire match, shocking Corbin.

This would be CJ Esparza's first match in AEW in two years. His last one was against The House of Black's Brody King and Buddy Matthews in tag-team action during an episode of Dark.

Right from the start, Powerhouse Hobbs showed his dominance, barely flinching at his opponent's strikes, before starting with some offense of his own. He toyed a little with his opponent, tossing him across the ring before setting him up for the finishing blow.

Per Don Callis' orders, Hobbs took Esparza back to the ring and lifted him for the Argentine Backbreaker, which forced the referee to call off the match.

The former TNT Champion has begun his great momentum, as he is interested in Jon Moxley and his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. He has not had the best of luck in AEW recently, but this could be the start of brighter things to come.
