A major betrayal took place tonight at AEW Full Gear. The long-standing friendship between two prominent stars in the industry is now over. The stars in question are Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa.
The Glamour signed with AEW last year, while Mina Shirakawa remained with Stardom. All Elite Wrestling's working relationship with the Japanese promotion allowed Shirakawa to make her way to America and reunite with May. However, Toni Storm stood between them when she was the Women's World Champion.
With Mariah May turning on Toni Storm, she was left with no one else on her side except Mina Shirakawa until tonight at AEW Full Gear. The duo finally held May's long-overdue Champagne Championship Celebration at the pay-per-view.
While the two were celebrating on the stage, May tried blindsiding Shirakawa with a champagne bottle. However, the Japanese star's instincts kicked in, and she was able to dodge the attack. The 36-year-old immediately disposed of the bottle.
Shirakawa ultimately speared Mariah May and put her through a table. The medical staff and officials quickly arrived to check on them. May was motionless, but Shirakawa was able to stand on her feet with a bloodied mouth.
It is safe to assume that The Glamour was certainly threatened by her former best friend, and this might lead to her next big feud.
