AEW star Eddie Kingston has been on the sidelines since last year due to an injury. He recently provided an update on his progress as he continues his recovery.
The Mad King suffered a torn ACL and meniscus last year. It occurred during an exciting showdown against Gabe Kidd at the 2024 New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Resurgence event. Since then, Kingston has been undergoing a constant rehabilitation process in his bid to return to the squared circle.
Kingston provided the latest update on his health in a new post on Instagram. The AEW star was seen undergoing therapy for his knee and stated that, although he disliked the procedure, it was necessary to get healthy.
"I tried to find some 'motivational' quote, but let's be real, sh*t sucked and I hate doing it, but it has to be done."
Eddie Kingston got real about his feelings for former AEW star CM Punk
Amidst his absence from AEW, Eddie Kingston got candid about how he truly felt about his former co-worker, CM Punk. The Best in the World was fired from the company following a real-life fight with Jack Perry backstage at All In 2023.
Although he personally did not like him, Kingston did not shy away from admitting that Punk was one of the few legitimate draws left in the wrestling business.
"I loved punching him in the face, I’ll tell you that much. Again, I’m not a bullsh***er, I’m not gonna lie and be like, ‘Nothing, f**k him.’ I’m gonna take the personal stuff out of it and just look at it from the outside and say that Punk is one of the few names still left in wrestling where if you put [his] name on a billboard by itself, you’re gonna get people to come and see what’s going on. Personally, that’s a different story, but business-wise man, he’s really one of the last few names in wrestling [that can do that]."
With The Mad King still recuperating from his injury while keeping an eye on the wrestling world, it remains to be seen when fans can see him back in the ring.
