A top female AEW star suffered a severe injury during the peak of her run in the company. She has now made a heartbreaking revelation about her time on the sidelines.

Thunder Rosa was immediately pushed after arriving in AEW. She feuded with some top stars and quickly won the AEW Women's World Championship. However, her run at the top was tragically cut short due to a back injury. The injury turned out to be so severe that the company had to strip her of the title.

While she was recovering from injury, there was speculation of backstage issues involving Thunder Rosa. Many believed she was absent from the company's programming due to behind-the-scenes problems with talents.

Thunder Rosa returned to action in AEW over a year later on the December 23, 2023, episode of Collision. She teamed with Abadon to face the team of Julia Hart and Skye Blue upon her arrival.

A top AEW star has fired back at his critics HERE.

During a recent interview with AEW Unrestricted, Rosa got candid about her time on the sidelines. She said she had suicidal thoughts for a long time because the injury kept her out of the ring and fans criticized her due to rumors.

Rosa said although she wanted to defend her title, her body didn't allow her to do so. As she got stronger, she started to gain confidence and fight her emotions.

“I spoke about this very openly. I had suicidal thoughts for a long time, because, again, with all the layers that it had, not only like it was the injury, it was like, I feel certain people didn’t give me the chance, and some of the fans just turned on me. The comments that they were making, they were awful, like, ‘Go kill yourself. You don’t want to put people over.’ It hurt so bad that at times I couldn’t deal with it. I just couldn’t. I wanted to defend this title. I wanted to give my best, but I physically couldn’t do it. It just ate me, but I utilized the resources. I got physically stronger. I stopped having pain, which allowed me to exercise, to allow me to get back in the ring. So little by little, I started gaining my confidence back. The injury really broke my spirit and everything that came with the injury, but I fought through it.” [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]

AEW star Thunder Rosa explains how she got through her injury

For a wrestler, being in the ring is everything. Hence, when a star like Thunder Rosa gets injured, it takes a toll on them mentally and physically because they have to sit at home and recover. This is when most wrestlers seek outside help and the Mexican star did the same.

During the same podcast episode, Thunder Rosa explained that she had a strong team with her during her recovery period. She credited her husband, manager, publicist, son, and former partner for holding her hand through the injury. She also said that Alvaro and Alex Abrahantes were like her brothers during this phase of her career.

“I have a very strong team that was with me, my publicist, my manager, my son, even my former partner, too. They were there for me. A lot of my very, very close friends helped me tremendously. At the time, I had a really good therapist who helped me with a lot of the issues that I was dealing with. Alvaro and Alex Abrahantes, they were like my brothers. They really held my hand in the hardest moments of my career." [H/T WrestlingNews.co]
