Renee Paquette gave her vote to AEW Women's Champion Britt Baker for female wrestler of the year in the first annual Sportskeeda Wrestling Awards. Renee joined our esteemed panel of wrestling legends and industry celebrities in voting.

Britt Baker faced stiff competition in her category, but won the vote to top Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Bianca Belair and Mickie James for 2021.

Renee took to Twitter to react to the news, offering both congratulations and referencing DMD's double life as a dentist.

Britt Baker enjoyed a meteoric rise in 2021, taking the wrestling world by storm alongside Thunder Rosa with their iconic Lights Out match. She then carried that momentum to capture the AEW Women's Championship off Hikaru Shida, ending the longest reign in the title's history.

Britt Baker appreciates the support after a big year in AEW

Britt Baker has truly had a huge year, cementing herself as one of the top women's wrestlers in the world and establishing herself as an AEW stalwart. She shared her own sincere thank you to Renee via Twitter, posting three love hearts in response to the congratulatory post.

It can get lonely at the top, however, and Britt's title is under its greatest threat since her reign commenced. Baker has attempted to sabotage rival Thunder Rosa's climb up the rankings again and again, seeing the Mexican-born star as the only true threat to her reign.

Unfortunately for Baker, her plans have backfired yet again. The muscle she hired has turned out to be a threatening adversary and Rosa is breathing down the champ's neck anyway.

Britt Baker enters this Wednesday's St. Patrick's Day Slam in a tense atmosphere. She'll be separated from her entourage by a steel cage as she defends her title against the one challenger who has always cast a shadow over her.

Do you think the winner of Sportskeeda's Female Wrestler of the Year will retain her title at St. Patrick's Day Slam? Sound off in the comments below!
