The former WWE NXT Champion, Samoa Joe lost the AEW World Championship to his challenger on the recent Dynasty pay-per-view after enjoying a decent run for the past few months.

At Dynasty PPV, the AEW World Champion, Samoa Joe was slated to defend his world title against Swerve Strickland. Although Joe had been a decent champion after winning it at the Worlds End 2023 PPV, fans were eagerly waiting for the eventual crowning moment of Swerve after failing the last time.

Swerve Strickland made his grand entrance in Marvel's Black Panther-inspired outfit alongside Prince Nana and received a thunderous reaction from the crowd in St. Louis. Fans were behind Strickland throughout the match as well. At the end of a hard-hitting title bout, Swerve managed to finally capture the AEW World Title from Joe.

Moreover, Swerve also made history by becoming the first-ever African-American AEW World Champion in the history of the company. It also marked the end of the nearly four-month title reign of Samoa Joe after only a few defenses. Overall, it was a heartwarming moment and only time will tell what's next for Swerve as the new champion.
