Former WWE Superstar Matt Cardona has issued a challenge to The Icon Sting via social media.

WCW Legend Sting still performs at an incredibly high level alongside Darby Allin, drawing attention from ambitious wrestlers. One such competitor who has completely reinvented himself recently is Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder.

Cardona spent much of 2021 creating his own wrestling story and picking up multiple championships. The former WWE star recently took to Twitter to respond to a fan suggesting he should defend his NWA World Heavyweight Championship against the former WCW star.

The former Intercontinental Champion responded to the tweet stating he was willing to put his title on the line against The Vigilante.

Matt Cardona previously worked with AEW in 2020, but he never signed with the company. He's currently a free agent who wrestles in GCW, IMPACT, and NWA, among other promotions. It wouldn't be impossible for Cardona to face The Icon, so this indirect interaction could even be a tease for a future match.

Matt Hardy also recently threatened Sting via Twitter

Matt Hardy and his AHFO stable have been the bane of many AEW wrestlers for months. The team usually attacks wrestlers or make their lives difficult in order to set up matches. Most recently, the AHFO attacked Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara after a match between the two. Hardy subsequently sent a heated message to the former WCW star on Twitter.

The Icon stepped into the ring to chase away the attackers, as he usually does. However, as time has proven, the 62-year-old will likely have to step into the ring against Andrade and Hardy if he truly wants them to back off. Specifically, some fans have wondered whether the two duos could face off in a tag team match.
