Tony Khan is famously known for signing talents in bulk to the Jacksonville-based promotion. He signed indie star Abadon to AEW in 2020. However, the 33-year-old talented wrestler announced on X last month that their contract would expire in June and would not be renewed. Professional wrestling veteran Konnan recently commented on Abadon's departure on his podcast.
Abadon wrestled their final match in All Elite Wrestling against Julia Hart in December 2023. Following that, they debuted in AEW's sister promotion, Ring of Honor. Their last appearance in the promotion was in October of last year in a match against Athena for the ROH Women's World Title.
In the latest episode of the Keepin' it 100 OFFICIAL podcast, WCW veteran Konnan talked about Tony Khan opting not to renew Abadon's contract. He mentioned how the wrestler was pushed earlier by the company, but they ''never really got over.''
"Number one, the girl never really got over. They pushed her hard at the beginning, okay, and, bro, that's what happens there, and I say it all the time; some people say, 'Oh, I'm getting paid!' Yeah, but your stock is also going down," he said. [2:23-2:36]
