"They’re all cowards," - Former champion in WWE makes a bold statement, teases AEW main roster appearance

Former WWE Superstar makes bold statement about AEW champions
Former WWE Superstar has made a bold statement about AEW stars.

A former WWE Superstar who held multiple titles in NXT recently called the main roster AEW champions cowards and teased a main roster appearance in the Jacksonville-based company. The superstar in question is Athena.

Athena, known as Ember Moon during her time in WWE, worked in the Stamford-based promotion from 2015 to 2021. The War Goddess enjoyed success on the company's developmental brand and held the NXT Women's Championship and Tag Team Titles during her run. Athena is now signed with All Elite Wrestling and is currently the ROH Women's World Champion.

Speaking recently on the K & S WrestleFest virtual signing, Athena shared her goal of having more gold around her waist by winning All Elite Wrestling's Women's Title, and the TBS Title. The 35-year-old said she would love an opportunity to kick the titleholders, Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander, in the face.

“Right now, I’m the forever Ring of Honor Champion. It’s my show, my title, my family with Lexi and Billie [Billie Starkz]. My next goal is to get some more gold around my waist, maybe make an appearance on AEW, seeing if I can get under the skin of some of the champions over there and see if they’ll issue that challenge. They’re all cowards. I love Kris Statlander. I would love even more to kick her in the face. That would be beautiful. Hikaru Shida. I wrestled Shida a long time ago in SHIMMER, and I thoroughly enjoyed that match. I would love the opportunity to kick her in the face again. That would be beautiful,” Athena said. Athena wants to main event AEW pay-per-view

During the same event, Athena said that although she is building up the Ring Of Honor brand, she aspires to work more outside the company and wants to be a regular on All Elite Wrestling's programming. The War Goddess added that she wants to win all the women's titles in the Jacksonville-based company and main event a main roster pay-per-view.

"What I'm focused on now is just building myself up because it's taken me quite a long time to get where I am currently. Hopefully, you can call me three belts Athena in AEW when the TBS Championship, AEW Women's Championship, and Ring of Honor Championship are all around my waist. That would be the highest aspiration right now, to hopefully main event an AEW pay-per-view. I'm going with the flow," Athena said. [H/T Fightful]

The 35-year-old is in the midst of a dominant run atop the women's division in ROH and has held on to the Women's Championship, which she won in December 2022, for more than 300 days.
