AEW fans best know Steel for his involvement in the infamous backstage fight at All Out 2022, where Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks clashed with CM Punk and Steel.

The aftermath saw Ace Steel being fired from the promotion while others involved were handed suspensions. However, Punk would get fired after getting into another scuffle at All In 2023, this time with Jungle Boy.

Though Steel was hired back in May 2023, he was released just a few months later. While The Second City Saint made his grand return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, fans wondered what lay ahead for Ace Steel.

Ace Steel is happy about his friend and AEW colleague CM Punk returning to WWE

Following Punk's WWE return to Survivor Series 2023, Ace Steel spoke in an interview about the former's decision to rejoin the Stamford-based promotion.

Steel said he was proud of his "number one student." He also mentioned how CM Punk wasn't among the ones to take any backstage shenanigans lightly.

"I'm very proud of my number one student that I've ever coached in the world for heading back to show the world who the f*** he is... The reason people hate him or whatever is he's not about the bulls***, and the guy doesn't take s***, and he doesn't take it lightly. And when you've had enough s***, you either explode, or you take care of business yourself, and you defend yourself," Ace Steel said.

Steel has also competed for WWE in the past, albeit mostly as an extra or a jobber on various occasions between 2004 and 2008.
