Several AEW stars left the company earlier this year. It now looks like more stars may depart the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Over the years, All Elite Wrestling has recruited several stars from around the world to bolster its roster strength. However, several stars have since gone unused due to the limited TV time available. This has resulted in many unhappy wrestlers leaving the promotion in search of better opportunities. Recently, Abadon and Bear Bronson announced their departure from Tony Khan's promotion, as their contracts had expired.
During a recent edition of the Fightful Select Weekly Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked if more people could depart the company in the future. Sapp replied that this is a possibility, but most companies don't announce departures. As for All Elite Wrestling, he noted that the roster page provides a good indication of who is still signed with the company, and as of Friday, Abadon was still listed on the roster page.
Mariah May made her WWE debut after leaving AEW
Mariah May joined All Elite Wrestling in 2023 and quickly established herself as a top star in the women's division. She even won the AEW Women's World Championship at All In last year. However, after losing the title to Toni Storm, she wrestled in only one more match for the promotion before being taken off TV.
It was reported that she had departed the Jacksonville-based promotion after her name was removed from the company's roster page. Following these reports, Mariah May appeared in NXT last week and set her eyes on winning the NXT Women's Championship from Jacy Jayne, making her intentions clear. May is one in a long line of former AEW stars who jumped ship to WWE this year.
It will be interesting to see whether Mariah May achieves the same level of success in WWE that she did in All Elite Wrestling.
