Toni Storm has not been seen in AEW after she dropped her Women's World title to Mariah May at All In two and a half months ago. She could make her grand return alongside another popular star. This would be Mina Shirakawa.
Mina has recently teased her return to the company. It was revealed earlier in the week that her long-awaited return will be taking place next week. It also remains to be seen how her comeback segment will go, as it has yet to be announced whether she'll be competing or not.
The Timeless star, on the other hand, has kept busy during her hiatus from AEW. She has made appearances for both Stardom and CMLL, competing against some of the top talent from both global promotions.
Below are the reasons why Toni Storm may not return to AEW alone.
Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa have met up behind Mariah May's back
Mariah May has been clamoring for her best friend to come back to her, but little does she know that Mina has been interacting with her bitter rival behind her back.
Last month, the two teamed up for two matches on Stardom. Storm has refused to comment about Mariah during those times. However, recently, there has been an interesting tease of them coming together once more.
During the video package promoting Mina's return to AEW, a QR code appeared at the side of the screen and, when scanned, showed an unlisted video from the promotion regarding Toni Storm's whereabouts.
Mariah May wants competition
Earlier tonight on AEW Collision, Mariah May addressed the future of her title as she claimed that she had run out of competition. She claimed that she could end up being the woman who killed women's wrestling, as no one was on her level.
She has claimed that the years of her prime are being wasted, and she has beaten everyone who has stepped up to her.
A major title match is taking place next week
Moments after The Glamour's backstage promo, Anna Jay had a quick response to this and challenged her to a rematch. She brought up how their head-to-head series was tied and that they should have a third match to settle everything.
Jay mentioned how she wanted this to be next Wednesday and also named two stipulations. She wanted this to be a no disqualification match, and if she loses this, she'll never challenge for the AEW Women's World Championship ever again.
Should this be made official for next week, this may coincide with the return of Mina Shirakawa. This may provide Mina and Toni Storm the chance to interfere in Mariah's affairs. They could end up costing her the title, with this being no disqualification.
This could end up being the beginning of sweet revenge for Toni Storm and a chance for her to finally get her hands on her former mentee. In their previous feud, she hesitated to go all in against Mariah, and she may now get her chance to do so.
