Adesanya reacted to the fight's announcement by posting a thrilling teaser on Twitter and hyping himself up. He wrote:

Marvin Vettori believes Alex Pereira will beat Israel Adesanya again in the title rematch

Former middleweight challenger Marvin Vettori weighed in on a potential title rematch between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira prior to the UFC 287 main event announcement.

Vettori has previously lost twice to Adesanya, with one of them coming in a championship bout at UFC 263. 'The Italian Dream' spoke to The Schmo in an interview and said:

"He [Pereira] will beat 'Izzy' again. I don't know, I feel like he [Pereira] had a mission on beating him [Adesanya], and then now he doesn't really even... I mean, of course, he cares 'cause everybody cares about money. But he [Pereira] knows it's risky to fight anybody that has real good grappling."

Vettori suffered his latest loss against No.2-ranked contender Robert Whittaker, and now has an uphill task to justify challenging for the title again.
