A few interesting observations from this week's episode of SmackDown Live (June 25)

3 interesting observations from this week's SmackDown Live (June 25, 2019)

From Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler slugging it out in a gruelling 2-out-of-3 falls match to R-Truth refusing to honour Drake Maverick's backstage request, this week's edition of WWE SmackDown Live (25th June 2019) featured a lot of contrasting moments.

There was a decent quality of wrestling content seen during last night's episode from the Blue Brand. But RAW did a far better job in holding the viewer's attention and it was also the better-structured show this week. However, there were some intriguing takeaways from last night's serviceable episode.

#3: The latter half of Bray Wyatt's Firefly Fun House puppets made subtle cameos during backstage segments

"Abby" The Witch and "Mercy" The Buzzard were the first few Firefly Fun House puppets that made cameos during this week's Monday Night RAW in a similar fashion.

This trend was seen in last night's edition of SmackDown Live as well when "Huskus" The Pig Boy (a reminder of Bray Wyatt's 'Husky Harris' persona) appeared in the background as Bryan and Rowan were making their way to the Gorilla Position.

But that was not the only puppet that appeared during last night's show.

Ramblin' Rabbit was seen in the background when Carmella encountered Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose in a backstage segment. The puppet instantly disappeared when R-Truth came into the picture.

Perhaps Bray Wyatt's Firefly Fun House segments have concluded for the time being, and these subtle cameos are red herrings which hint towards the possibility of Bray Wyatt making his re-debut on RAW or SmackDown Live soon (next week?).

#2: Who knocked on Aleister Black's door?

I personally feel that the mystery of who knocked on Aleister Black's door was the most intriguing moment from SmackDown Live this week.

After all, this situation is quite similar to a drama that keeps building to a certain point where the viewers expect a major plot point to unveil in front of their eyes.

Aleister Black's frustration reached to a tipping point during last night's show, but a subtle knock on his door was all that was needed to turn Black's frustrations into an evil, menacing smile.

We know that Randy Orton has been facing Aleister Black in the house shows, which makes him a prime candidate for being the wrestler who will answer Aleister Black's ominous challenge.

Bray Wyatt's eventual return is a topic that has been widely discussed in the past few weeks. As mentioned in the previous slide, Wyatt's re-debut might take place next week, and from what the situation looks like so far, it seems like Aleister Black's challenger might also be revealed around the same time as well.

#1: The 24/7 Title segments balance out Shane McMahon's overexposure each week

The Miz and Shane McMahon got involved in a pointless angle together, just like last week's SmackDown Live episode.

It seems like the creative team has not found new ways to integrate the direction of this feud with its segments yet. Because even though we now have three babyfaces involved in this saga (Roman Reigns, The Undertaker and The Miz), it still feels like the writers are re-establishing the same plot points each and every week.

The Miz has already failed to overcome Shane McMahon's clique countless times, but we still witnessed the same thing all over again this week as well.

Thankfully, R-Truth's 24/7 Title shenanigans encourage viewers to stick throughout the entire show. As mentioned for RAW, the 24/7 Championship segments (and R-Truth) are singlehandedly responsible for changing the format of both main roster shows.

So even though fans have to sit through numerous Shane McMahon-related segments during one single night, there is still a possibility of R-Truth crashing the show at any given time, and therefore, both of these angles balance out RAW and SmackDown Live each and every week.
