Could Edge and The Big Dog actually have a match?

5 Most likely opponents for Edge after WrestleMania 36

They thought that his career was over and done but at the Royal Rumble this year, he proved that you did not know him, dear WWE Universe member. Edge came back to WWE after years on the shelf to much cheering and adulation.

It is a shame that his comeback has been marred by everything that has been happening around the world these days, but everything must come to an end someday. And the good news is that Edge is likely here to stay and rule the roost provided his match at WrestleMania 36 has gone according to plan (I have heard nothing to indicate otherwise).

So, whom does he take on after Randy Orton? I can immediately think of 5 names and I would like to invite you to do the same in the comments section right below.

#5 Seth Rollins

I mean just look at this Tweet. Seth Rollins is a huge fan of Edge and as the company's top heel, it would only make all the sense in the world to pit him against a babyface Edge. In fact, he could dedicate a sermon or a service to the fact that Edge needs healing for all the injuries that he sustained, for when he believed that he would never ever wrestle again.

Having grown up on Edge's matches, Seth Rollins would be someone who probably knows every Edge spot inside out, and he is also someone who matches Edge when it comes to size and his style. This is not going to be a match where the young man carries the veteran but where they work together to tell a good story.

The added element of the heel stable would only add more drama to the proceedings.

#4 Roman Reigns

Wait, why would Roman Reigns take on Edge considering both men are babyface? It did not stop WWE from doing the same thing in the case of Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg, yet another case where the only reason for doing the match is because it's a big-ticket draw and because both men deliver furious spears.

Roman Reigns vs. Edge is one of those matches that could potentially main-event a stage like Super ShowDown, and there is no reason at all why this match cannot potentially happen. Whatever you may think of the guy, Roman Reigns is a man who is loved, revered, and respected by all of his peers and he is additionally one of the safest performers in the ring, making him the perfect opponent for Edge.

But most importantly, as he said during his promo with Goldberg, Roman Reigns is racking up a string of wins against WWE legends, from The Undertaker to Brock Lesnar, to John Cena, etc. Edge could be just another victim to enhance his impressive stats.

#3 King Corbin

King Corbin is arguably the top heel in the company right now not named Seth Rollins and/or Randy Orton and we saw the kind of magic he managed to create with Kurt Angle in the ring when he retired him. It wasn't the most popular decision to have him in the match but since then, Corbin has gone from strength to strength and just learned to embrace the heel, the bad guy, the vicious side of his persona that dwells deep inside.

If the two men do come to blows at some point in the future, it will be amply obvious who the babyface is and who the heel is, in the said encounter, at least. Edge will be the clear crowd favorite and Corbin will embrace the additional heat that comes from going up against someone like Edge, whom people from across generations respect and revere greatly. And just imagine the kind of heat that Corbin would get if he cheats to defeat Edge on a big stage like SummerSlam someday.

#2 AJ Styles

We saw the tease of a feud between AJ Styles and Edge during the Royal Rumble match, but of course, it was not meant to be. And now, Edge will battle Randy Orton while AJ Styles goes into the most important match of his life against The Undertaker. And we all know that he was chosen for the said match because he's arguably the best in-ring performer since Shawn Michaels, and can bump around in such a manner that he makes his opponent seem like a million bucks.

AJ Styles will also have Gallows and Anderson standing by his side which means that the numbers will always be against Edge. And from a visual standpoint, it may be a very cool sight indeed to see Edge spear, not one, not two, but three men at a go, if you're a fan. But when these two masters of psychology and in-ring warfare get into the ring, ultimately we'll get a match that is absolutely off the charts and then some too.

Plus, Edge may be able to go significantly better than The Undertaker.

#1 The Fiend

The Fiend has almost made it a thing to go after legends, from Kurt Angle to Mick Foley, to Jerry 'The King' Lawler and even Goldberg, even though he came up short and lost the Universal Championship to the WCW icon. I think that it's only a matter of time before he goes after Edge setting up a feud that gets resolved in Saudi Arabia.

In fact, The Fiend can bring up certain unpleasant memories from Edge's past to remind him how different he used to be. And the feud can become very personal indeed, with the segments from the Firefly Fun House inciting the Rated R Superstar to such a point that the match at hand is must-see indeed.

These are the kinds of feuds that The Fiend should be getting involved in, where there is no title on the line because Bray Wyatt's latest avatar should be beyond material possessions even if they involve the top prize on either RAW and SmackDown because we've seen how those segments have gone with him.
