5 Things that must happen in WWE this January

December was a unique month for WWE. While the viewership numbers sank to new, historic lows this month, there is a silver lining to all of this. From what I understand, the McMahon regime will be implementing a sea of changes in the company that should make the product significantly better. There is an air of freshness to the product.

Sure, pinning all of the misfortunes of WWE around Corbin's shoulders wasn't really a good call. The McMahons were pulling the strings backstage for each of those decisions. But the new year is supposed to be packed and exciting.

Here are 5 things that must happen in January, to wipe away the memories of the sordid year that was. Let me know if you agree or disagree with my assessment.

January could be a great month if booked right!

#5 Another Kevin Owens vs. John Cena feud

This feud could potentially light up the singles division on RAW

We saw vignettes for the return of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn two weeks ago. While the two men have been out battling injuries, the WWE product has suffered. Their return could be just what the doctor ordered to make RAW exciting once again.

I would personally have Owens take on Cena upon his return. This is because both men are incredible on the microphone and can sow the seeds for a rivalry that culminates at WrestleMania. Owens could write Cena out and have Super Cena return on the grandest stage to take on Kevin Owens in a heated confrontation.

Remember that Cena's dates are limited and therefore, WWE must put him in a heated program before he leaves towards the end of this month. His WrestleMania feud should ideally be set in stone by that point!

#4 Sami Zayn returns as a babyface, challenges Bobby Lashley

Sami Zayn should not be a heel when he returns from injury

Alongside Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn is also expected to be back in action very soon. We'd seen vignettes of his return on the RAW after TLC. Remember that the last program that Zayn worked before he left was against Bobby Lashley.

While that feud was marred by Lashley's 'sisters' who all turned out to be cross-dressers, WWE has a chance to make things right after Zayn returns. Zayn is usually a crowd favourite and Lashley has now become a heel. Sami Zayn needs to return as a babyface and take Bobby Lashley out for good.

It would be a logical way for WWE to go, considering that Sami Zayn's kayfabe injuries were attributed to Bobby Lashley. RAW also has a lot of heels than babyfaces at this moment.

#3 Bray Wyatt challenges Dean Ambrose

Rollins will probably be moved away from the Intercontinental Championship picture

I know that a lot of you do not want RAW spoiled. And this is why I'm only going to leave this link here. Click on it if you wish. The only real takeaway from here is that Seth Rollins will be moved away from the Intercontinental Championship picture on next week's RAW episode.

Who better to challenge Ambrose than Bray Wyatt then? We know that Bray Wyatt is back and ready to go because he's been competing at Live Events. In fact, I spoke to Matt Hardy last month and he told me that Wyatt had been given some time to heal up after an accident.

Dean Ambrose really needs a strong opponent to challenge him after Seth Rollins. He's been feuding with the likes of Tyler Breeze and Apollo Crews on TV recently.

It's also a great chance to turn Bray Wyatt babyface.

#2 Becky Lynch wins the women's Royal Rumble

This is what all of the WWE Universe would want!

WWE is often accused of not giving the WWE Universe what they want. Becky Lynch's rise to the top of the pack has been organic, and for a change both the WWE management and the WWE Universe seem to be on the same page. It only makes sense for her to win the Women's Royal Rumble this month.

This would allow her to go on to challenge Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35. Their rivalry has been heating up on social media. Both women have taken shots at one another and fans have been frothing at the mouth to see them mix it up.

If Becky Lynch competes in the Royal Rumble and anyone but her goes on to win the match, the uproar will be massive. Fans may just hijack the event with boos.

#1 Braun Strowman defeats Brock Lesnar, becomes Universal Champion

Yes, this absolutely needs to happen at the Royal Rumble

Braun Strowman has had a good many title shots at Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. And yes, every time he has come up short. For him to be taken seriously, he needs to go on and win the big one. Having a full-time Universal Champion will only help the roster out.

Lesnar has a few UFC commitments to fulfil as well. He has a highly anticipated fight with Daniel Cormier lined up, or at least so it seems from their altercation that ensued when DC defeated Miocic. Lesnar can be off WWE TV for a while and none would really mind.

January could be a huge month for WWE. It could also signal an uptick in terms for viewership for the company.

With FOX expecting massive viewership numbers, these changes need to happen.
