The Dandadan anime is dividing opinions when it comes to the use of colors
The Dandadan anime has featured some creative liberties by the studio, Science SARU, which includes using different color schemes depending on the situation. For example, the most recent episode featured Momo Ayase, Okarun, and Aira Shiratori fighting aliens with the effects of yellow and green undertones. This scene has left the fandom divided.
On the other hand, a tweet by an X user named @ryloken68 has gone viral, stating that many anime fans criticized the MAPPA Studio adaptation of Chainsaw Man for the lack of vivid colors and are now pointing out the series for being too bright. This topic has led to a lot of discussions because it is also fair to say that each series is different and these two anime are adapted by two different studios.
Some fans have mentioned how this battle in particular could have benefitted from having darker colors because it focuses on the suspense of the characters not knowing where they are. As Momo is hiding and Okarun is being hunted, the perspective of some fans is that a darker color scheme would have fit the context of this moment in the Dandadan anime a lot better.

It doesn't mean that Science SARU is criticized for the adaptation of the Dandadan anime, since it has been very well-received. The franchise has also garnered immense popularity all over the world. However, fans who have read the manga might have a certain vision of how events should have played out in the anime and that is when each person's interpretation matters.
Other fans have also defended the choice of colors as a way to differentiate the normal world from the reality, where they battle aliens and yokai in the Dandadan anime. A good example of that is the pink and reddish colors used during the Acrobatic Silky battle. This highlights the difference between the two planes, which is a wise creative decision, all things considered.

"I believe you are missing the point of said criticisms. obviously nobody has an issue with the vibrant colors in dandadan but rather its the intensity of said colors that people are criticizing. the yellow and green overlays are just too bright and should be toned down," another person said.
"my guy no offense, but the problem here isn't the colours being "bright and fun", but them actively ruining the 2d animation and drawings. they're blurring out the linework, and it can look really jarring. Only the yellow and green have been actually bad. (especially yellow)" someone else said.
The first episode of the Dandadan anime surprised many fans because of the quality work Science SARU did with this project, especially during Okarun's first transformation and the first time Momo Ayase used her powers. However, some fans pointed out some bright color scenes from the anime series.
"you should compare the bright color scene from ep 1 to latest episode, it is not looking good, ep 1 has one of the best color compositing i've ever seen in modern anime, and compare that to ep 4-8, maybe with an exception for ep 7," another person said.
"Honestly it’s pretty smart to make fight scenes be in one color bc I imagine it makes coloring a bit easier while also giving a unique identity," someone else said.
Regardless of this detail, the general perception of the Dandadan anime has been quite positive and that deserves the recognition it has gained.
