No, There is no Timeskip in the Hunter x Hunter Anime series.

Hunter x Hunter is one of the most popular manga and anime series written by Yoshihiro Togashi and follows the story of a young boy, Gon Freecss, who wants to become a Hunter to find his long-lost father, Ging Freecss.

Why is there no Timeskip in Hunter x Hunter?

There was a plan to put the timeskip in Hunter x Hunter, but things changed because of the editor of the series as per the writer Yoshihiro Togashi. In an interview, Togashi said that he had written the Timeskip chapters but after talking to his team, they decided not to include them in the anime series.

However, there is a rumor that in the future, when the Hunter x Hunter continues its manga, there might be a chance that there will be a timeskip, but it is not official yet.

When did Yoshihiro Togashi talk about Timeskip in Hunter x Hunter?

Yoshihiro Togashi went to a Japanese TV program, Iwakura to Yoshizumi no Bangumi (The Iwakura and Yoshizumi Show), in which many stars and manga artists come to talk about their ongoing manga and anime series. On November 14, 2023, an episode of the show aired in which Yoshihiro came in, and some guests asked him one question about timeskip in Hunter x Hunter through the letter.

Once I had a rough sense of an otherworldly story, spotlighting the profession of Hunter, I felt I could continue it indefinitely. So I set out to have the manga go for as long as possible and thought I would start with the protagonist taking the Hunter Exam. What was decided at the start of serialisation was the storyboards for the first 3 chapters, and that the protagonist would fail the exam and it would skip ahead several years.

The actual contents of the Hunter Exam were only decided right before (because I wanted to enjoy the unpredictable situation myself too). In the end, the idea for Gon to fail the exam was scrapped after discussing it with my editor, so the answer to the question would be the first 3 chapters. However, I had decided early on to introduce the main ally (Killua) and villain (Hisoka) early in the exam,” Togashi said.
