Kaiju no. 8 short synopsis

Kaiju no. 8 takes place in a world where kaiju, or giant monsters, frequently wreak havoc. A "fortitude level" is given to each kaiju, signifying their whole strength. They are divided into two categories: honju, which are stronger and more dangerous, and yoju, which are smaller kaiju that can accompany or branch out from honju. Kaiju with unusual traits or high fortitude levels are categorised as daikaiju and assigned a number based on the time of their initial appearance.

The story is centered around Kafka Hibino, who after consuming a parasitic entity, can transform into a kaiju. To keep a promise he made to a childhood friend, he must now use his power to navigate while trying to join an organization that eliminates kaiju.
