Last Modified Apr 30, 2024 06:50 GMT

Akira Toriyama stopped drawing because he lost his wooden pen holder, which he had used for more than 51 years to draw manga scenes. However, there is also a rumor that he felt exhausted, which is why he took up a supporting role rather than being a Manga artist.

The passing away of Akira Toriyama was sad news for all the anime fans and industry. Many manga artists looked up to him so much because of his amazing work which gave a positive image of the anime industry worldwide. He was one of the best among the top manga artists, but he also left drawing in 1995 after a long run of drawing the Dragon Ball series, and even in an interview, he revealed why he left drawing and said “It Didn’t Feel Right.”

The most probable answer about why Akira Toriyama stopped drawing was that he lost his favorite pen holder that he had used since he was 14 years old, which was behind his amazing work in the Dragon Ball series, which gave him massive recognition across the globe. However, it was also said that he felt tired because manga writing consumes much of the artist's time.

Akira Toriyama was asked why he was not drawing manga. In reply, he said that “It Didn’t Feel Right” for him because he lost his wooden pen holder and felt fatigued trying to keep up with the demands of Dragon Ball series fans were asking him to meet. They wanted new episodes and manga chapters to keep coming every week, which was not possible.

It takes a lot of focus, creativity, and hardwood to sketch one chapter or even one scene of manga, which is why Akira quit drawing the manga and started giving his team to the other writers so the future generation can do a better job.

Akira used his beloved pen holder for about 51 years, and his last manga was Sand Land, which he wrote in 2000. After that, he left drawing manga, and recently, it was said that Sand Land will be adapted in 2024, but the release date is still not out.
