Badminton Asia Championships: Parupalli Kashyap registers second consecutive win; enters third round

Parupalli Kashyap registered a second straight win in the Badminton Asia Championship on Wednesday

In a pulsating clash, India’s Parupalli Kashyap progressed through to the third round of the Badminton Asia Championship, defeating Jen Hao Hsu of Chinese Taipei 15-21 21-18 21-19 in the second round.

The Indian went down in the first game of the match, winning just 2 successive points on the trot as compared to the opponent’s 5 but made a strong comeback in the second game, winning 4 points consecutively as compared to Hsu’s 3.

The third and the deciding game proved to be a real humdinger as both men were neck-to-neck for a large part, but it was the 28-year-old from Hyderabad who prevailed in the end, winning the game 21-19 and thereby entering into the third round.

The win was India’s second in singles, following PV Sindhu’s comprehensive victory over Anait Khurshudyan 21- 6 21-5 in the second round.
