IBL Match Preview: Hyderabad Hotshots vs Awadhe Warriors

Saina Nehwal will take on PV Sindhu in tomorrow’s clash

Hyderabad Hotshots will be playing Awadhe Warriors in the 2nd match of the Indian Badminton League.

Strength:

Any team that has Taufik Hidayat, Ajay Jayaram and Saina Nehwal would be pitted as favourites irrespective of the opponents. Saina will have a tough encounter against PV Sindhu though, bronze medalist at the world championships, in the most anticipated match of the day.

Weakness:

The doubles pairing of V Shem Goh and Khim Wah Lim will be playing against the formidable combination of Mathias Boe and Markis Kido. But the format which supports three singles matches will play into the hands of Hyderabad. Hence this should not be much of a worry. The Indian mixed doubles pair is a spot of bother though, as Hyderabad are expected to drop points.

Strength:

The mixed doubles pair of Mathias Boe and Markis Kido. Mathias Boe is ranked number 6 and the ease with which he combines with his new partner will decide how well the pair does in this tournament.

In women’s singles, they have PV Sindhu who is in sublime form of late. Experienced mixed doubles pairing of Maneesha and Nandagopal will have it easy against Hyderabad’s Indian combination.

Weakness:

Men’s singles’ is where Awadhe Warriors’ chink in the armour lies. World No.12 Wei Feng Chong and Indian starlet Gurusaidutt will have to be at their best to make a match against Hyderabad’s Taufik Hidayat and Ajay Jayaram.

Player to watch out for: Mathias Boe – The late inclusion to the Awadhe Warriors squad is the world number 6 and in combination with Kido will be a treat to watch.
